![]() Given your size, I wouldn't recommend anything lower than 14 pounds, I'm 215 and throw a 15 pounder. Getting a ball drilled to you specs will give you more control with a heavier ball. the reason you feel you don't have control with heavier balls is because the ball isn't drilled correctly for you and you have to grip it harder so that it doesn't fall out of your hand, thus reducing control. Sounds like you currently using a house ball. If I hit my mark, getting a strike is no problem regardless of velocity. I focus more on my aim than how much force I give it. I should mention that my average speed (13lbs. ball and see if it feels okay.īut, being a 190lbs., 6'3" medium build dude, I'm not wanting to face embarrassment from the guys. I found one that suites me pretty well but the problem is, it's 10-11lbs (My alley has a pro shop, so finger holes are no biggy). I'm all about style and find most balls ugly. ![]() I say this because I'm wanting to get my own personal ball. ball and that's been my main for 3 weeks now. seems okay, but my local alley only has one in which the holes fit. and didn't feel like I had much control over the speed and aim. But to not use too light of a ball, to avoid throwing it down the lane 50mph and hurting someone, haha. Talking to some fellow leaguers, they always advise I use a ball that I feel comfortable with. I'm learning a ton already and practicing at least twice a week. Recently joined a league about a month ago.
